GLAM To SLAM
Yes! There is a line from the outrageous GLAM period of Mott, Slade, Sweet -- to the CBGB SLAM era and it runs thourhg ONE BAND and we're going to rock both sides of that coin!
"From GLAM to SLAM" chronicles rock's most radical transformation—from 1970s glitter-soaked spectacle to CBGB's raw rebellion.
The show opens with the androgynous glamour of Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust," T. Rex's "Get It On," and Sweet's "Ballroom Blitz," capturing when rock became theater. Our rotating ensemble delivers the platform boots, glitter, and gender-bending attitude that scandalized parents and thrilled teenagers.
The New York Dolls provide the perfect bridge—too punk for glam, too glam for punk—before we dive into CBGB's revolutionary scene. From Television's art-punk sophistication to the Ramones' three-chord manifestos, from Patti Smith's poetry to Talking Heads' nervous energy, we capture the moment when rock shed its costumes for torn jeans and authentic rage.
This journey from Bowie's "Starman" to Blondie's "Heart of Glass" showcases how glam's theatrical rebellion birthed punk's authentic revolution. One show, two movements, endless influence on everything that followed.
